Stephan the Great Park

The city park of Stephan the Great (named after Pushkin before), the place of rest, walks, meetings, is a green massive in the centre of our capital, the subject of the fair pride of the inhabitants of our city.






 Cathedral Park

It is situated in the centre of the city, its south-west side abutting upon Great National Meeting Square. Its area is 9 hectares. It was founded in 1836. The park has 8 entrances, the straight alleys lead to the open space in front of Cathedral. The green plantation: elm, birch, firs of different kinds - blue and Norway spruce, maple, lime, service-tree, a lot of flowers and bushes.

Valya Morilor (Valley of Mills) Park

It is situated in the south-western part of the town. The area is about 114 hectares. It was founded in 1951. The project of the park territory was elaborated by the collective of architects, run by R. Curts. The park is situated on the plot with the interesting and unusual landscape. It has four entrances.







The centre of the landscape composition is a lake, its area is 34 hectares. The lake is surrounded by the ring alley, its length is 2.5 kilometres.






Almost half of the territory is covered with the green plantation. Predominating species are Lombardy and Canadian poplar, willow, horse-chestnut, some kinds of acacia and maple, lime, service-tree, pine-tree. The park is multi-purpose. There are summer theatre for 5 thousand places here, «Dnevnoi» cinema, a chess pavilion, «Andriesh» children town, beach, amusement park. There is «Moldexpo» Free Enterprise Zone located in the park territory.





Valya Trandafirelor Park (Valley of Roses Park)

It is located in the south-eastern part of the town. Its area is 145 hectares. The natural massive formerly existed in the place of the park, alternating with the rose plantations. Some time, ancient ground dikes partitioned off rather a vivid stream forming a cascade of ponds. In the late 60s improvement of the park was begun. The dikes were strengthened and dressed in concrete, the lakes were cleared of silt, the new alleys were laid. Now the central part of the park are decorated with the cascade of lakes, the area of them is 9 hectares. There are about 50 kinds of trees and bushes in the park - oak, fir-tree, white acacia, birch, and others. There is a stage for 1 000 places, the amusement park with the Big Wheel, pavilion of playing machines, «Doina» and «Beciul vechi» restaurants, «Columna» cinema. Since the 70s the creation of the museum of garden-park culture has been begun, where one can see the works of masters from Moldova, Byelorussia, Lithuania, Estonia, Georgia, Armenia, Tadzhikistan.


La Izvor Park

It is situated in the north-western part of the town, it borders upon the western part of Calea Esilor. The area is 150 hectares. It was founded in 1972. The park composition is determined by the cascade of ponds connected with channels. The main species of trees are acacia, poplar, birch, maple. There is a fountain in the park, the central alley leads from it to the unusual bridge. The island of fairy-tales for children’s rest can be seen from it.

There is «La Izvor» restaurant here.


Ghidigici Park

It is located at the distance of 12 kilometres to the north-west of Kishinev, on the shore of Ghidigici water reservoir. It was founded in the early 60s. Its area is about 1 thousand hectares, 124 hectares of those are occupied with the plants. The park is intended to be a place for sport and fitness (water bicycles, rowing etc.). Up to 30 thousand people can simultaneously take a rest here. The relief is both flat and hilly. There are comfortable beach, water sports base, boat station, opportunities for fishing here. Ghidigici water reservoir was built in 1963. The heron, bittern, wild duck (mallard), coot, and the others are the waterfowl, that nest here. There are a lot of different fishes here - carp, crucian, pike-perch etc. On its shore, a recreation department was created.

Alunel park

It situated in the western part of the town. Its area is 11 hectares. It was founded in the early 60s in the place of the old part of the Jewish cemetery. There is a big rectangular pool with fountains in the centre of the park. The plant dress of the park consists of the deciduous and coniferous trees - acacia, lame-tree, fir, horse-chestnut, Lombardy poplar, birch and oak. The Palace of Tennis sides with the southern part of the park.

Riscani Park

It is located in the north-east part of the city. It adjoins the districts Riscani and Chiocana. The area is 32 hectares. It was laid in 1972 on the basis of natural wood massive. The local kinds of trees predominate in the park: white acacia, lime, poplar, willow. There is a picturesque lake in the centre of the park. Its area is 12 hectares.
