In the eastern part of Piata Libertatii ("Square of Liberty"), the building of the "Chisinau" Hotel is located. It was built in 1960 on the project of R. Kurts. In the 5-storey hotel there are more than 200 rooms, partially occupied with the offices of different firms. There is a restaurant, bars and the "Crama" restaurant , conventionalized as Moldovan wine-cellar.

The sculptural composition to the warriors of the Soviet Army, liberated Moldova from German and Romanian fascists in 1944, was mounted in the centre of the square. Sculptors - L. Dubinovsky and N. Apelbaum.
