Owing to divine mercy and cares of the people of good will, Phoenix of our national consciousness rose from the ashes of explosion of 1962 even more beautiful, durable, majestic.

It was necessary for our people to restore this bell tower. Many of us wanted its restoration, some even helped to revive it. Yet the founder of this Sacramental Building became City Hall of Kishinev. In February 1997 the reconstraction of Bell Tower began.

The chief architect of Bell Tower, Mr Jica Bulat, who brilliantly succeeded in preserving its architectural appearance of the end of the XIX (Cathedral was erected in 1835), also tried, at the same time, to combine harmonically the elements of the modern technology in the project even more strenthening the construction. Besides that, the walls of the "new" Bell Tower in contrast to the "old" one do not need "plaster" any more. They are made of the white stone, considered to be the best one, as it is not destroyed by rains and snowfalls. So, on 5 October 1997 the interrupted peal of bells, cast in 1837, began to sound in our capital again. This sound that has never been fogotten by Bessarabian Christians will accompany us forever, from this day on. The peal of holy bells will never be suppressed, even by explosion, like the consciousness of people will never be lulled.
